A long gap between postings. That’s because between then and now I flew from the Bible Belt (TN) to the Buddha Belt (Bay Area) where I became a first-time grandmom. I couldn’t resist one picture:
And tomorrow…off to that instant city of tens of thousands in Chicago: 2005 ALA conference. To say I’m a little intimidated about successfully negotiating the conference would be understating it. Hopefully, events such as the NMRT mentor/mentee gathering at the Homewood Suites lobby Friday evening at 7, or the NMRT Conference Orientation meeting (9-11am in MAR Chicago D) will help. You’ll hear a lot about NMRT because until someone out there hires me (!) and I start fitting into a particular librarian category (ACRL, RUSA, etc.), NMRT makes a great entrée into ALA.
I’ll be helping to staff the NMRT booth noon-1 pm on Saturday. And I’ll be at the 3M/NMRT booth (booth #2016) noon-1 pm on Monday. Come by and say “hi.” Figuring that I’ll meet people and get to move around a lot, I’ve signed up to help at the Scholarship Bash 8-11 pm on Saturday at the Museum of Science and Industry. (This and the Art Institute are 2 great museums...Chicago or anywhere.)
I made a 1-page chart/schedule with waaay too many “or”s for each time slot. So far the hardest choice looks to be Sunday, 1-3:30 pm. Will it be the NMRT All Committee Meeting, which I should attend? The Top Ten Tech Trends? A tease of a title…guess it worked. Or ACRL’s Blues program? I’m a blues-lovin’ South-Sider—how could I not go? Errrggg. Stay tuned to find out which way I jumped…
